Description:
The Health in All Policies approach appeared on the international scene in 2006 when it was used by Finland during that country's role in the presidency of the European Union. The HiAP model has since travelled around the world, and several countries, states and cities have embraced this term to stimulate the idea of addressing the social determinants of health. The World Health Organization even adopted HiAP as the central theme of its eighth International Conference on Health Promotion in 2013.
HiAP is attractive to health promoters but also raises several questions: What is the difference between the concepts of HiAP and Healthy Public Policy, since they are based on the same idea? Why this topic now? How to move from rhetoric to action?
This webinar on Health in All Policies will answer these questions. The objective is twofold:
1) To reduce any ambiguities by clarifying the concept; and
2) To support action by presenting concrete examples of this approach at the local level. Issues and conditions for success will also be discussed with a guest who applies the HiAP approach in his daily work.
