The workshop was about the roles of public health in population mental health, given that Ontario has just developed guidelines on mental health promotion within the context of the renewal of the  the Ontario Public Health Standards.

To start the day, Pascale discussed the population mental health framework developed by the NCCHPP which was used to help frame discussions in Ontario and she elaborated on the roles of public health in population mental health.

A recent event developed by the six National Collaborating Centres working in partnership with four other organizations brought together public health practitioners from the various provinces and territories to explore and clarify the roles of public health in this field. A brief summary of the exchanges which occurred during this event were shared during the TOPHC conference.
