Health Impact Assessment: a methodology to include health in all policies - Summer Institute 2009
The NCCHPP presented a pre-conference workshop on health impact assessment during the National Collaborating Centres for Public Health 2009 Summer Institute.
Published in July, 2009.  Description.
.

Health Impact Assessment (HIA) offers a structured way to shed light on the decision-making process related to a proposed policy and on the policy's potential effects on the health of a population.

This day-long workshop, presented for the NCCHPP by Habitat Health Impact Consulting was designed to familiarize participants with HIA methodology and addressed the following two questions:

• How can HIA be applied so as to lead to the adoption of healthy public policies at different levels of government?
• What are some key issues related to this practice that must be taken into account?
