The NCCHPP will participate in the 2020 TOPHC Convention
The NCCHPP's Val Morrison and Michael Keeling will each offer a presentation at the upcoming The Ontario Public Health Convention (TOPHC) to be held in Toronto, from March 25-27, 2020.
February 2020. Description.

Please find below the detail of their respective presentations:

Wednesday, March 25

10:00 - 11:30 am

Val Morrison, scientific advisor, will present "Core Competencies for (Healthy) Public Policy".

Public health actors routinely intervene in the field of public policy. As a workforce however, many public health actors and organizations have argued that there is a need for formal training and guidelines related to how public policy is made and how to most effectively contribute to the process. This presentation describes this perceived need and the early findings of a scoping literature review into policy competency frameworks in public health recently undertaken by the NCCHPP.

1:00 - 1:30 pm

Michael Keeling, scientific advisor from NCCHPP, will host a session entitled "Presenting an Online Course in Public Health Ethics: A Story of Working Across Sectors".

In this session, presented by the NCCHPP and the Public Health Training for Equitable Systems Change (PHESC) project, they will present a new online course for practitioners and students. An Introduction to Public Health Ethics is the product of several multi-sectoral partnerships over the past years. They will first provide an outline of the course and what it offers and then they will discuss the various partnerships and the processes involved in its development. This open-access course will be available in English and French in 2020.
